Irresistible Grace
This point can be better communicated by the phrase “Effective Grace” since “Irresistible” makes it sound like God violates the freewill of people. Basically, God’s saving grace is always effective for the elect and He doesn’t fail to save those He has chosen.
Although not exactly the focus of “Irresistible Grace” (as I understand it anyway), it is also important to stress that God’s people are saved by grace and faith, not by works or “good deeds” alone. That is to say, we do not earn the favor of God by just doing good and living properly, but Christ has done that on our behalf. Doing good and living according to God’s will is important, but only valuable when done with the fear of God and faith in Christ having already earned God’s favor for you. You’re working out (not for) your salvation that’s already found in Christ (Phil. 2:12). For this reason, there will also be passages supporting salvation by faith in God’s grace here.
