5 “old” songs I rather enjoy:

  • Matthew Good Band – Indestructible
  • Death Cab For Cutie – Marching Bands of Manhattan
  • Thousand Foot Krutch – Phenomenon
  • Tomoyasu Hotei – Battle Without Honor or Humanity
  • Pilate – Into Your Hideout

There’s something wonderful about listening to tracks of a former life that brings back all those memories subconsciously, binding perceptions and recollections the past with the very real and current present.

Died in a motor crash.
I came back for you,
The perfect version of myself.

Tomorrow we start again.
Tomorrow came and went.

Approach

This used to be just funny.

Thanks xkcd.

And as is now regular, a song: a relatively new (to me) sad song, Annie Use Your Telescope by Jack’s Mannequin. ☥

☥ Michelle was the one to introduce me to Jack’s Mannequin many years ago, and the Carl Foundation of Musical Enjoyment thanks her for her generous contribution.

Learn to Fly

Shivon showed me the first version of these shoes, and they were nifty. I think this second iteration is cleaner and more in-line with what I would like… I’d wear these if I didn’t already have wings.

In the recent trend of making all posts musical, and because I received my Rock Band 1 disc recently, here’s another song. Lyrics after the jump.

And That’s How This Idea Was Drilled Into My Head

Somehow, iTunes DJ seems to know exactly which songs to drag up out of the dusty archives. More music for readers. Lyrics after the jump.

It’s been many years since I’ve listened to this band. Fun tidbit: the singer from The Academy Is… (William Beckett) provides the supporting vocals in this song. And of course, that’s another one of my favourite bands from that time of my life. I am still amazed to this day how something as simple as listening to a song from years long gone by can still bring to mind so many memories about those days. Sometimes inconvenient, sometimes necessary.

Lyrics and song after the jump.

My Blu-Ray Virginity

Given to Kaela Kimura (I’m glad—if anyone should get it, she should). I’m excited to get back to my PS3 so I can watch!

Breathe in for luck. Breathe in so deep.
This air is blessed, you share with me.
This night is wild, so calm and dull.
These hearts, they race, from self-control.

Your legs are smooth, as they graze mine.
We’re doing fine.
We’re doing nothing at all.

My hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me.
So won’t you kill me, so I die happy?
My heart is yours to fill or burst,
To break or bury, or wear as jewelry.
Whichever you prefer.

The words are hushed, let’s not get busted.
Just lay entwined here, undiscovered.
Safe in here from all the stupid questions.
“Hey did you get some?” Man that is so dumb.
Stay quiet, stay near, stay close, they can’t hear.
So we can get some.

My hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me.
So won’t you kill me, so I die happy?
My heart is yours to fill or burst,
To break or bury, or wear as jewelry.
Whichever you prefer.

Hands down this is the best day I can ever remember.
Always remember the sound of the stereo.
The dim of the soft lights.
The scent of your hair, that you twirled in your fingers.
And the time on the clock, when we realized “It’s so late!”
And this walk that we share together.
The streets were wet, and the gate was locked,
So I jumped it, and let you in.
And you stood at the door, with your hands on my waist.
And you kissed me like you meant it.
And I knew… that you meant it.
